Having gone through professional training as an OD certified Consultant and having being introduced to myriads of toolkits and intervention in mitigating societal problems and rescuing organizations from total collapse and improving upon the Organizational sytems with system design model and views, I was thrilled about the concept of the OD as a discipline. The studies was regorous and detailed, if you miss one day lectures, it is like one week at CCOD UNIVERSITY. Full of presentations and assignments, project work using the ACTION Research model, looking at organizations from both psychosocial and philosophical perspective with sustainable Change in mind. I met a lot of great people across the nation and others outside Ghana who contributed positively to my development and learning. The environment was serene and we did away with all excuses that undermines the principles of discipline. We had three Reverend ministers in my batch, met a lot directors and leaders of organizations who had the quest for personal development; One charismatic, Pentecost and Catholic priest doing the MSC programme. We had a feedback session every morning before the next lessons begins, every contributions were welcomed, we saw a community instead of the traditional lecture - student relationship, that fostered an environment for learning.

As an OD Certified consultant, I have the burden to defend and protect the professional integrity of my profession, look at issues objectively and fairly without any prejudice and biases with the common objective of providing sustainable intervention with the involvement of my clients. I analyse data, information, organizations, leadership models and styles, policies and laws within the context of organizational framework, I look into contractural agreements to look at where there are loop holes and gaps and give my independent opinions. I also help in recruitments, interviews, reviews of documents and better particulars, research documents, organizational culture and behaviour and so on. Consultants are highly paid because of the SPECIAL VALUE they bring to the organization. I help to create value and increase the market shares of organizations. I facilitate meetings and trainings professionally and coordinates feedback between employees and employer. The services of the consultant is inevitable in the western lands since the knowledge and the impact of OD Interventions are well appreciated. Africa and Ghana is now transitioning into adoption and the practice of OD interventions kind courtesy the innovations of Dr.Gabriel Gbiel Bernakku, the president of CCOD University and his special OD programme offered such as DIPLOMA IN OD, BSC OD, MSC OD, ADVANCE OD, and special OD seminars. The impact of the OD programme in your life is not comparable to the fees paid. For Ghana to have a sustainable change, we need OD professionals in every organization across the nation; we need OD specialists in churches, mosques, communities, health care industry, the football fraternity, the leadership landscape and so on. These are professionals who speak objectively and analytically on issues and bring solutions and sustainable change to our continent.

The change just less than one year after graduation is remarkable, that is why I recommend to you CCOD University.

MOST ASSEMBLYMEN ARE CLUELESS ABOUT GOVERNANCE & LEADERSHIP IN THEIR COMMUNITIES, Rev.Jefferson Bemoans

My reserach and experience in working across the Ghanaian communities for the past 11 years has revealed the weakness and ineffectiveness of most Assembly members in Ghana as a result of lack of knowledge, inadequate knowledge about local governance leadership in their communities. Some were forced to these position without adequate understanding about what leadership is all about and how to effectively harness the rich potentials in their communities for the common good of the people they lead. Most do not know the strength and weaknesses of their communities at all, no priority of needs. I now appreciate why most members of parliament have taken the Ghanaian electorates for granted. If the capacity of the Assembly members were built, we could have seen a lot of developmental progress in our communities. When I look at the neglect of some of the basic needs in our communities today such as health care, quality education, portable water, good roads, security systems, youth development and empowerment. Our assembly men are supposed to know better and present the petition of their electoral areas, lobby and negotiate on behalf of their people. They are supposed to do consultation  with the community about projects and development of their respective communities. We must start paying attention to local governance, is a serious matter. Many come into office without any manifesto and policy directions, hence eveything goes on. Instead of them to negotiate before their MMDCEs and MPs, they go to them to beg and because of lack of knowledge about what is due them and their communities, the MPs take them for granted. Instead of calling for meetings with their communities to put forward a written proposals about their needs, they go begging and the shameless ones only dance to the tune of their  MPs. We must begin to advocate for good policy and leadership directions for our communities. Most communities are only existing, no development. If only the Assembly men would know the power they have and how to engage their community members, Ghana will change in the next years. Some of the mottos of the upcoming Assembly elections are very funny, many just copy anything at all, some have not led any development and projects before yet they want to lead. We must start setting standards for Assembly elections in Ghana, there must be some educational bench mark and true leaders must be elected in Ghana. Let's be very serious about local governance elections, let's be serious about people we vote for into Parliament, else the underdevelopement and backwardness is inevitable. Ghana decides this December on the Adsembly members, 2020 Ghana decides on who leads or misleads us into another years of slavery, wise up Ghanain voter, your vote is your power, take good care of your thumb.

Let us see the track records of leaders we elect, leadership is not a joke and a try and errors entreprise, if you want to lead, please invest into your personal development and build your leadership acumen, enough of the incompetent leadership in Ghana.

ANTENATAL CARE

Planned examination of the woman from conception till birth is known as antenatal care. Throughout pregnancy, the woman has 4-6 contacts with the health care provider. This care can happen at the health care facility or on outreach services. The objective of antenatal is to promote, protect and maintain the health of the mother during pregnancy, to detect high risk cases and give them attention, to remove anxiety associated with delivery and to reduce maternal and infant mortality.

Leadership, An Endangered species

62 years after Independence and Ghana still wallow in poverty, bad roads, food security issues,   inequality in educational  Gap continues to widen, more Ghanaians continue to struggle for portable drinking water, malnutrition and food security still poses a threat to national development. 27 years after the promulgation and the adoption of the 1992 Constitution which was supposed to bring liberty and relief from the plight of many, it still remains a mirage and day dream. As if that was not enough, corruption has also succeeded in rearing its ugly head upon the progress of the nation, this casts slur and shadow upon the forward trajectory of our nation. People who pretend to serve the citizens rather become the overlords and masters on whose shoulder the economic caprices and whims gets broken. Leadership in Ghana especially that of the political arena becomes the fastest means to ill wealth, our supposed leaders misinform and mislead our populace with promises that are never within the remits of their constitutional mandate. Most often, almost all of our leaders do not have any direct connection with the ordinary citizens in order to appreciate and understanding their challenges, take feedback from the citizens for system improvement and development. The building of unwanted projects without consultation and involvement of the very beneficiaries for whom it was meant has become an accepted norm. The young generation see the leaders and the managers of our valuable resources as those in whose hands and under whose watch the resources of the country is being siphoned in broad day light. We changed the name from Gold  Coast to Ghana without recourse to transitioning the philosophical and psychological perspectives we had in the Gold Coast. It is just the name that changed on paper, nothing changed fundamentally. The behaviour of greediness, loot and share, disrepect for the rule of law, gross ignorance, lack of  planning for Ghana lack of sacrifice still remains a dorminant Gene upon which we act. In the spirit of democracy about 27 years ago, we the people of Ghana in the hope of adopting the rule of law, freedom and Justice demanded that we be governed with a rule that seems to protect corrupt leaders and yet prosecute people who steal finger of plantain! That is not to rule the offence of stealing though, since every theft is a theft, however, the selective justice undermines the principles of good governance. Unless we become truthful to ourselves as a people and redefine the fundamentals indicators and variables of leadership, we shall not and will not make any progress. The system is designed to favour corrupt people, lies and dishonesty has become an order of our generation. You can only see people undertaking projects in community because they wants to win the votes of the ordinary Ghanaian. Unfortunately however, the average Ghanaian do not look at issues, we have being selling our sovereignty for over 27 years now. 2020 is the year that Ghana goes to polls again to endorse most of our incompetent and ignorant  leaders again,  many misleaders and misgovernanors have taking the lead with cosmetic and aesthetic projects that will not even last for a year. The Youth of our generation must rise to redefine the kind and concept of leadership that we want to imbibe. The current generation must start reading and appreciating the gap between good leadership and development. We need to wear our intellectual cup once again and determine the kind of future that we need as a country. We need a robust and sustainable approach to leadership, we need to build the principles of probity, accountability, stewardship, integrity, love for nation, service, respect for human dignity and so on. We may have worse output and outcome if we do not change the inputs. We must shift  our attention from positional leadership to functional leadership. Leadership is predicated by skills and knowledge proven by practical wisdom.

We can not hold onto the same principles and have a different future.

GOVERNANCE & LEADERSHIP

PRINCIPLES OF GOOD GOVERNANCE & LEADERSHIP

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

 # Representation : As a requirement of any democratic governance structure and civilized society, all the people can not be in leadership, a leader(s) have to be chosen or voted for to represent the interest of the people in their community. The representatives must be a voice for all especially the poor and the most vulnerable such as those who can neither read nor write. The one selected or elected is privileged to be chosen by all as a voice of his / her community. This concept of governance gave birth to the local government representatives( assemblymen) and the national representation where we elect members of parliament into the legislative Assembly ( one of the most important arms) of  central government to place checks and balance on the work of the executive who has being given so much power under the Constitution, but not without the approval of parliament. We have not given a second thought to the type and kind of people we elect to this most revered offices : the knowledge of elected members, competencies, skills, track records, their involvement in community projects and so on. The way we definitely leadership into these offices is very interesting : you only have to belong to a political party with party card, finance and support the party, be likeable and have financial resources to control the states of affairs, and that is all the qualification one needs to be endorsed by a party. The party does all it can especially if it is in power, uses all its incumbent power to coerce the people to vote without much reflection and thinking. The people sell their sovereignty and their community to most of the elected members who know nothing to little about community development and leadership. No wonder, such class of " so called honourbles" never speak in parliament, they do not contribute to any business of the chamber and when they do, it lack substance and fails the acide test for leadership. Many of those voted for are not leasers. Education and wisdom is key to leaderhsip, not to undermine anyone's wisdom, but it takes knowledge to understand and appreciate policy issues and contribute. How can we vote for people who can not even speak English and express themselves into parliament. That is not to say people who can not speak English are not having wisdom, but it must be stated for records sake that all contracts and governance transactions are never done in the local language, unless we begin to conduct business of the legislature in the local dialect. Could it be the reason why some members of parliament has never spoken for over 12 years before but still win. What are they in parliament for if they can not speak and express the felt and perceived needs of the people they represent? This same challenge is not only in parliament but also every sector of the economy of Ghana. There are head of departments, in charges, management members, committee members, supervisors, and the nomenclature continuous. The sad thing is that many of the afore mentioned leaders do not understand the needs of the people they represent, many of them only attend the meeting to sign up for their per diem without any meaningful contributions. The shameless ones, only raise their second to only second a motion without a recourse to reflection and consideration. The leadership challenge in Ghana is not only the politicians, many public officers are just occupying seat and wasting almost everyone's time. How can Union leasers be representing people whose needs and challenges they have never asked and consulted on? Representation is consulting and involving your people before you speak. Look at the $200 M chamber deal, but for the timely intervention of dynamic and active Youths who spoke vehemently against it, it would have being worse. The Ghanaians are now waning up to demand accountability and probity from their leaders. The next 10 years is going to be interesting ! All the lies and the mischief of the political class is now being exposed by the beam of civilization and the use of technology. Many organizations are now moving from the use of physical offices to virtual offices. Our members of parliament are also supposed to be technology friendly, we expect more innovation and smart wats of conducting business of parliament, we need development, consultation, participation, citizens involvement. More debatea are coming for members of the legislature to engage them of issues of Development and concern in their communities, if you can not debate in your community, then you can not do it in parliament either.
