Volunteering in Ghana with the Friends Of Health Association—FOHA, gives you the opportunity to work on several sustainable and lives changing projects. FOHA projects offers the volunteer the opportunity to add professional knowledge and practical experiences on our projects fields ranging from medical outreaches to villages and towns, volunteering in various hospitals in Ghana, Orphanage supports, Clinical health services, health education on radio and television, HIV/AIDS services, Capacity building and Livelihood supports such as donation of clothing and food items to the poor and the less privileged, Community Development and Research work, Volunteering in schools for teaching experiences are also available for our volunteers, Tourism and rich cultural experiences also add flavour to our services

WHAT OUR VOLUNTEERS DO

{slider=HEALTH EDUCATION}

Our volunteers get involved in our health educational programme in schools, churches, mosques, in the community house to house campaigns, on the radio, television, writing of health articles, aimed at addressing Sustainable Development Goal 3:promoting health and wellness among all ages. Our volunteers carry out this project under the supervision of our seasoned staff.

{slider=CLINICAL AND HIV SERVICES}

Our volunteers also work in the area of our medical outreaches to villages and towns on prevalent health conditions such as Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Malaria, Hepatitis B screening. HIV/AID screening and outreaches are also scaled out to villages and towns by way of engaging the chiefs in our communities, opinion leaders, religious leaders and all stakeholders of health. Projects aimed at supporting HIV patients are also done in the area of nutritional support and capacity development to empower them to maximize their potentials.

{slider=NUTRITION}

Good Nutrition is widely recognized to be an essential element in the ability to lead a healthy and productive life, yet poor nutrition remains critical global problem. Each year, more children die as a result of under nutrition than of AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis combined. Good nutrition is widely recognized to be an essential element in the ability to lead a healthy and productive lives. Our volunteers work in this area by helping our clients with food supplements, educating our clients on the need for good nutrition, liaising with agencies and organizations that can help the poor and the needy in the area of nutrition.

{slider=CAPACITY BUILDING AND LIVELIHOOD SUPPORT}

Our volunteers work in this area through entrepreneurship training for the Youth and unemployed, Leadership capacity building workshops, agricultural training to group farmers, creation of social enterprises and innovative technologies to enhance economic status of the Youth, work with partners to offer logistics and inputs, build on multiple benefit potentials, organization of refresher trainings for caterers providing school feeding with the common objective of making it nutritious and secured for consumption. Work on gender equality and social protection through empowerment of women and advocate for equal representation of women in leadership.

{slider=RESEARCH AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT}

Research and community development plays a key role in ending global challenges in health putting vulnerable people into perspective that will enhance access to health and reduce risk related factors associated with health implications. Our volunteers on this project work in the field of community needs assessment, engage in community participatory activities to appreciate their own problems, find solutions, and build a peaceful and healthy community. Work with communities to improve on social and economic interventions, developed partnership to support community development projects, which has a more holistic approach and research related to improve on health and wellness of the community.

This is an initiative designed to promote quality education in the rural areas in Ghana and also assist school children to make informed decisions. The project focuses on teaching, training, establishment of libraries ad ICT resource centre.
