Mrs. Eunice Oppong - Amoah : Deputy Director of Nursing Services ( DDNS) and the supervisor of the theatres at the Sunyani Regional hospital is calling on all nurses to show strong leadership at their various units within the hospital fraternity and adhere to the standard of the nursing profession.
Mrs. Eunice Oppong - Amoah had her Nursing Education at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital from 1989 - 1992 and was stationed at the the Sunyani Municipal hispital till 1996. By dint of quest for knowledge and personal development, she continued to do Midwifery at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital from 1996- 1997 and came back to the same hospital she was working at. Her interest in theatre Nursing made her to pursue further studies in Perioperative & Critical Care Nursing at Korlebu from 2003 to 2005. She has being working at the Sunyani regional hospital from 2005 till now and she is the Nurse manager of the Accident & Emergency theatre, Obstetric & Gynaecology theatre as well as the CJ Oppong theatre ( Main theatre) at the regional hospital. She has really being at the forefront of health care specifically Nursing care in Ghana and has a lot of practical experience in managing patients, leadership and mediation, and so on. As a perioperative, Critical Care Nurse coupled with her managerial & leadership duties, she ensures that all patients that come to the theatre have save surgery, out the patient back to their maximum function status. The work of the Nurse at the theatre is key to post operative recovery.
Mrs. Eunice Oppong - Amoah is advocating for strong Teamwork and collaboration between surgeons, anaesthetics and nurses across the country. Teamwork according to the theatre supervisor is key to save surgery, good post operative outcome. She is enjoining all nurses especially theatre Nurses across the country to be current on pre operative care, Peri operive and post operative care management, in order to protect the dignity of the profession. This was message was contained in a message delivered couple of weeks ago in a meeting with her theatre in charges and deputy incharges at the Sunyani regional hospital. Nurses should be up and doing, give the best care and maintain good communication with their clients. This is the surest way to ensure the health sector transformation agenda. Team Building workshop among others were action plan taken to ensure synergy and build relationships among staff for good health outcome.
