FOHA MEDICAL OUTREACH AT SUNYANI MAIN STATION

       As part of FOHA's commitment to public health care in Ghana, FOHA in partnership with HIGH Grade Family - a network of Youth also committed to the development of society carried out clean up excercise along the principal street of sunyani and Mass Health screening for drivers and market women in the Bono region of Ghana on the 3rd of August 2019 between the hours of 6 am to 3:00 pm. The screening was on Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Body Mass Index ( BMI), Hepatitis B screening and General medical Consultation. FOHA has being committed to primary health care in Ghana for the past 11 years and as part of activities marking it's 11 year anniversary, has being carrying out health screening on non - communicable health diseases in order to prevent complications such as stroke and amputation as a result of Diabetes. The programme was sponsored by FOHA and High grade Family in partnership with Mr. Osei - Manager of Sheila's executive lodge. Glucose strips were also provided by Pharm. Doris Adom Nyantekyi. In all 65 people were screened. People whose blood pressure and sugar level detected to be higher than normal  were referred to the nearest health facility for further management. There was education on the above condition regarding early reporting to the hospital for regular check ups. The CEO of FOHA, Rev.Jefferson Agbotro Kwasi admonished the general public to take charge and responsibility of their health in order to stay healthy and work to increase productivity in Ghana. FOHA is calling on the general public to cultivate healthy  lifestyle in order to promote health and wellness in meeting sustainable development goal 3. FOHA enjoins all Ghanaians to support the course of public health care especially among health professionals. The CEO also touched on the issue of sanitation in the country, for citizens to adopt attitudinal change towards indiscriminate dumping of rubbish. Both the print and the electronic media is also called upon to play its advocacy role by joining FOHA to scale out health interventions to the underserved  population in Ghana.
