FOHA CELEBRATES VOLUNTEERS TOMORROW 6TH DECEMBER, 2019

INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEERS DAY 2019

International Volunteer Day (IVD) on 5 December was designated by the United Nations in 1985 as an international observance day to celebrate the power and potential of volunteerism.

It is an opportunity for volunteers, and volunteer organisations, to raise awareness of, and gain understanding for, the contribution they make to their communities. It is also viewed as a unique chance for volunteers and organisations to celebrate their efforts, to share their values, and to promote their work among their communities, non-governmental organisations (NG0’s), United Nations agencies, government authorities and the private sector.

The act of volunteering is found in all cultures, languages, and religions. Each year, hundreds of millions of people volunteer their time and skills to help make the world a better place. When they volunteer, they help to improve the lives of others. And when they volunteer, they also gain a greater sense of belonging to their communities.

On 5 December, people around the world will celebrate IVD with rallies, parades, volunteer fairs, group clean ups, blood donations, conferences, exhibitions, fundraising, workshops and volunteer recognition events.

It is within the context of recognition and appreciation of worthwhile contribiton by both local and international volunteers that FOHA has set tomorrow 6th December, 2019 to celebrate it's 12 years success, share volunteers experience, present the future strategic plan for the next 5 years of the organization. This programme is bringing together volunteers across the country and some special invited guests. FOHA has thrived on the shoulders of volunteers over the years. The day will also afford FOHA the opportunity to present certificates of recognition to deserving volunteers for their immense contribution to the FOHA agenda. The cocktail party is proudly sponsored by the BOARD of DIRECTORS. In addressing SDG 10: Reducing inequalities, SDG 3: Health and wellness among all ages, SDG17: PARTNERSHIP for the SDGs, FOHA brings together volunteers from the discipline of Nursing, medicine, Pharmacy, Medical laboratory, engineering, business & accounting background, Development studies, Journalism, and other discipline in the name of strategic PARTNERSHIP in order to address challenges confronting the sub- Saharan Africa, Ghana in focus, especially in the area of health, Nutrition, capacity & livelihood support.
