With this quote, I introduce to you our heroine this week, MRS BERNICE KONAMA GYAU, the NURSING & MIDWIFERY COUNCIL OFFICER for the BONO - AHAFO REGION.
She completed Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School, proceeded to Nursing & Midwifery Training College(NMTC) - Sunyani (pioneer).By dint of hard work and quest for higher knowledge, she went to the University of Cape Coast( UCC) where she pursued Bachelor of Science ( BSC) Nursing. Her love for continuous personal and professional development, inspired her again to pursue
MSc CLINICAL Leadership and management (CLAM)- UGBS-UG-LEGON
PGDE UCC.
She is a registered General Nurse (RGN), counsellor. She has extensive Knowledge in health law and ethics, programme and project management and clinical supervision.
She had her one year mandatory rotation at the Bono Regional Hospital, Sunyani.
Her first posting was at the Bono Regional Hospital where she had her service and was specifically first sent to the Neonatal and Intensive Care Unit(NICU). She excelled whiles there and was the first nurse to be selected to make a presentation at the first Congress on Public Health in the Region and National platform
From the NICU, she worked at the Emergency Department, surgical ward and orthopaedic ward. She was admired by her clients and her colleagues because of her meticulous work and dutifulness.
Her love and passion for the Nursing profession and Student development earned her the appointment as the preceptor of the Bono Regional Hospital during her time. She was reassigned to the Office of the Nurse Manager( Matron) by virtue of her new appointment. It was at the Matron's Office, where she was approached by the then Regional Director of Nursing & Midwifery Council(NMC) for the position of Assistant Regional director. She applied and was appointed after an interview in 2016.

In 2018, her boss was appointed the director of nursing services at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital(KATH)and she was appointed the acting Regional director.
She was confirmed as the Regional director in 2020. Congratulation and more grease to your elbow for the height attained.
Her mandate and scope among other things include Regulation of the Nursing and Midwifery Training and Practice,
Represent the Council and Registrar in the Region. Her vision is to secure in the public interest the highest standards of training and practice for nursing and midwifery.
Your Advice to Nurses & Midwives?
To help uplift the name of the profession high by being intentional by our attitude ,actions and inactions and the quality of care we give.
Sankofa- go back to those times that we were respected and regarded in society.
Let us seek knowledge and upgrade ourselves and take up leadership roles.
Acknowledgement of individuals who have contributed positively towards your career and professional development: my family, my mentor miss Georgina Afua Sam(she taught me at NMTC so she identified my potential from there and mentored me, she has been with me every step of the way). My award is dedicated to her. May God bless her.

Our heroine is married to a fine gentleman with two(2) amazing kids.
Religious background & any leadership role?
Member of Calvary Charismatic Centre (Solid Foundation branch), Sunyani.
She is the president of the charismatic ladies ministry in her branch.
She is the church secretary as well as the Bible study teacher.
