Burnout is a serious problem in the healthcare industry, and it's getting worse. As demand for healthcare increases, so does the need for qualified staff. But when people are overworked and underpaid, they are more likely to burnout. Burnout can devastate an individual's mental health and ability to provide quality care- which is why it's so important to recognize the signs of burnout and address them before they become a problem. The first step in addressing burnout is recognize that you or co-workers may be experiencing it. Here are some common signs:

  • Constant fatigue or exhaustion
  • Feeling like you are running on empty all the time
  • Difficulty sleeping or concentrating on work task
  • Frequent headache or other physical symptoms related to stress
  • Feeling overwhelmed by responsibilities or task at work

Leaders and managers should be able to identify burnout among their team and look for intervention.
