Having gone through professional training as an OD certified Consultant and having being introduced to myriads of toolkits and intervention in mitigating societal problems and rescuing organizations from total collapse and improving upon the Organizational sytems with system design model and views, I was thrilled about the concept of the OD as a discipline. The studies was regorous and detailed, if you miss one day lectures, it is like one week at CCOD UNIVERSITY. Full of presentations and assignments, project work using the ACTION Research model, looking at organizations from both psychosocial and philosophical perspective with sustainable Change in mind. I met a lot of great people across the nation and others outside Ghana who contributed positively to my development and learning. The environment was serene and we did away with all excuses that undermines the principles of discipline. We had three Reverend ministers in my batch, met a lot directors and leaders of organizations who had the quest for personal development; One charismatic, Pentecost and Catholic priest doing the MSC programme. We had a feedback session every morning before the next lessons begins, every contributions were welcomed, we saw a community instead of the traditional lecture - student relationship, that fostered an environment for learning.
As an OD Certified consultant, I have the burden to defend and protect the professional integrity of my profession, look at issues objectively and fairly without any prejudice and biases with the common objective of providing sustainable intervention with the involvement of my clients. I analyse data, information, organizations, leadership models and styles, policies and laws within the context of organizational framework, I look into contractural agreements to look at where there are loop holes and gaps and give my independent opinions. I also help in recruitments, interviews, reviews of documents and better particulars, research documents, organizational culture and behaviour and so on. Consultants are highly paid because of the SPECIAL VALUE they bring to the organization. I help to create value and increase the market shares of organizations. I facilitate meetings and trainings professionally and coordinates feedback between employees and employer. The services of the consultant is inevitable in the western lands since the knowledge and the impact of OD Interventions are well appreciated. Africa and Ghana is now transitioning into adoption and the practice of OD interventions kind courtesy the innovations of Dr.Gabriel Gbiel Bernakku, the president of CCOD University and his special OD programme offered such as DIPLOMA IN OD, BSC OD, MSC OD, ADVANCE OD, and special OD seminars. The impact of the OD programme in your life is not comparable to the fees paid. For Ghana to have a sustainable change, we need OD professionals in every organization across the nation; we need OD specialists in churches, mosques, communities, health care industry, the football fraternity, the leadership landscape and so on. These are professionals who speak objectively and analytically on issues and bring solutions and sustainable change to our continent.
